FCI offers flow swap to protect from dry running

Fluid Components International’s twin alarm FLT93 Series flow switch supplies an early warning alert to the potential of dry running conditions, cavitation and different pump points that can lead to emergency shutdowns and dear maintenance.

FCI’s FLT93 Series circulate change reliably screens the move and temperature of liquids, gases, and slurries. It is designed for pump wet/dry detection, the place sudden, unexpected reductions in media move rates can leave pumps susceptible to over-heating circumstances that shutdown course of traces and require troubleshooting and fixing. The SIL2 rated instrument is meant for heavy-duty, potentially hazardous course of trade environments and comes with a comprehensive record of world safety approvals.
It has a no transferring parts design and presents a robust scheme for pump safety with its twin alarm capability. With Alarm 1, the swap detects a low flow scenario wherever between 0.01 and three ft per second FPS (0.003–0.9 m per second MPS). This low move alarm is a pre-warning sign for the management system or operator who can then resolve to keep the pump working or to close it down.
If an Alarm 2 happens as a result of the feed line to the pump is working dry, this would be an emergency signal to close down the pump instantly because the bearings now see fuel instead of a liquid as a heat transfer media. In such conditions, the temperature of the bearings could rise very fast. Using a flow switch prevents everlasting damage to the pump’s bearings.
